‘Capercaillie’ is an original artwork created using soft pastels and pastel pencils on thick Pastelmat board. This work is professionally framed as shown with a 7cm mount board and slim matt black frame.

Capercaillies are found in the pine forests of Scotland and are the world’s largest grouse species. having already been extinct in the UK in the 18th century and reintroduced in the 19th century they are in danger once more. Their numbers are in decline due to loss of habitat leading to fragmented pine forests, changes to the climate and birds flying into deer fences.
